Amazon Data as MCP Tools

The Model Context Protocol (MCP) is the open standard AI assistants use to call external tools.

SellerMagnet API runs a hosted MCP server at https://sellermagnet-api.com/mcp. Add it to your MCP client with your API key, and the assistant can fetch live Amazon data whenever a question needs it, without you copying ASINs into a terminal or writing request code.

Every tool call is a request to the matching SellerMagnet API endpoint, made on our side with your key. You get the same data, the same billing and the same limits as the REST API:

  • Same data: each tool returns the endpoint's JSON response. The one exception is amazon_product_history, which shortens long history series unless you ask for all of them (see behavior and billing).
  • Same billing: 1 credit per tool call. Requests rejected before they run are free, and an internal error (HTTP 500) is refunded; not-found answers and upstream errors are charged, as on the REST API.
  • Same limits: the per-key concurrency limit and the per-IP rate limit of the REST API apply.

The server is stateless: there are no MCP sessions, and each request stands on its own. As with any REST call, every tool call is recorded in your usage log.

Behavior and Billing

  • Cost: 1 credit per tool call, as on the REST API. Input rejected before the request runs is free: a missing or invalid argument (for example a count above 50), an unknown marketplace, a marketplace the tool does not cover, an ambiguous or unknown category name. A request that fails with HTTP 500 is refunded. Answers about the product itself (an invalid ASIN, not found) and upstream errors (502, 503) are charged. Connecting and listing the tools is free and needs no key.
  • Errors: problems come back as tool errors the assistant can read and act on. An API error includes the HTTP status and the API's message; a missing key, an unknown marketplace or an unknown argument is explained without calling the API.
  • Bestsellers by name: amazon_bestsellers takes a category ID or a category name in the marketplace's language. A name that fits several categories returns the candidates with their IDs, free of charge, so the assistant can pick one.
  • History size: amazon_product_history keeps the latest 30 points of every history series, because full histories are larger than assistants accept from one tool call. Set full_history to get every point, or charts to get PNG chart URLs of the full history for the same credit.
  • Prices: amazon_product_history returns prices as integers in the smallest currency unit (cents; whole yen on amazon.co.jp). The other tools return prices in currency units, for example 19.99, as in the REST API.
  • Marketplaces: history, estimated sales and the ASIN/EAN converter cover amazon.com, amazon.co.uk, amazon.de, amazon.fr, amazon.it, amazon.es, amazon.co.jp, amazon.ca, amazon.in, amazon.com.mx and amazon.com.br; the other tools accept all 23 marketplaces.

No. The server runs on our side. Your MCP client connects to the server URL over Streamable HTTP and sends your API key with each request. There is no package, container or local process to run.

Each tool call is one request to the matching API endpoint and is billed exactly like it: 1 credit per request. Input rejected before the request runs is free: a missing or invalid argument, an unknown marketplace, a marketplace the tool does not cover, an ambiguous category name. A request that fails with HTTP 500 is refunded. Answers about the product itself (an invalid ASIN, not found) and upstream errors (502, 503) are charged, as on the REST API. Product details, offers, search, bestsellers, deals and seller feedback accept every marketplace the API supports. Price history, estimated sales and the ASIN/EAN converter cover amazon.com, amazon.co.uk, amazon.de, amazon.fr, amazon.it, amazon.es, amazon.co.jp, amazon.ca, amazon.in, amazon.com.mx and amazon.com.br.

Price and rank histories can hold thousands of points, more than an AI assistant accepts from one tool call. The amazon_product_history tool therefore keeps the most recent 30 points of every history series. Set full_history to true to get every point, or set charts to true to get PNG chart URLs of the full history for the same credit.
